Nina Garcia Quarterly Co. Subscription Box – Review – May 2015

Nina Garcia is a Creative Director at Marie Claire Magazine. She recently started curating boxes at, this is her Fourth box. They come four times a year; winter, spring, summer, and fall, is how I like to organize them. These Nina Garcia boxes go for $100 a quarter.

NOTE: The last box I received was in November. We are supposed to receive this box 4 times a year. It took her 6 months to send out the next box. Because apparently Nina is too busy with her life to uphold a promise of a subscription box for all of her subscribers who pay $100 every “quarter”. If you want a true surprise with a subscription box and never know when you are going to be charged, what month it will be shipped out/ be delivered, or what months will be skipped, this is the box for you!

This months box is all about hair care

Fekkai PrX Reparatives Intense Fortifying Masque Travel Size $8

I love the smell of this mask! It smells like a vanilla cupcake! You leave this on your hair after shampooing for 3 to 5 minutes. Its supposed to restore and smooth and keep your hair shiny. They suggest to use the hair mask once a week. You can also find this on eBay!

Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer $22

I’ve been using this for a few weeks now, It definitely does speed up the blow drying process. BUT some days it leaves my hair flawless, other days it will leave my hair too salty and coated and making it too heavy. But I do recommend this product if you blow dry your hair a lot. You can find this on eBay.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day $28

I was not expecting a lightweight cream to come out of this bottle, so I was very happy. It has a beautiful floral scent with it and as soon as I applied it to my hair it made my hair instantly soft! You can find it on eBay.

L’Oreal Advanced Haircare Smooth Intense Ultimate Straight Straight Perfecting Balm $7

I already have super straight hair. I do not straighten my hair, so this product is irrelevant to me and my haircare regime. But of course you can find this on eBay.

Sachajuan Hair Repair $13

Another hair mask! You put this in your hair in the shower for 10-15 mins and then wash it out. Personally I’m not a fan of sachajuan so I will be passing this along. Fortunately, if you are a fan of Sachajuan you can find this on eBay.

Harry Josh Oval Brush $50

I’m in love with this brush. I still use my wet brush for when my hair is…wet. But after drying my hair, I’m all about this brush. It promotes soft and shiny hair with the bristles. AND the color is perfect, i just love the fun mint green color of it! If you missed out you can find this on eBay.

Redken Extreme Length Sealer $24

This is a brush applicator, the hair product is a cream that is supposed to fix split ends. As soon as I put this on it felt super soft  and definitely noticed a difference. You can find this on eBay.

Serge Normant ‘Dream Big’ Instant Volumizing Spray $15

This gets mixed reviews some people say its the best thing to happen for people with thin hair and others say that it doesn’t work as well, especially for the price. Honestly I’m not a fan of any sprays for my hair, I find them to be too sticky and make my hair feel dirty. I will be passing this along as well. You can find this on eBay.

SHU UEMURA Art of Hair Volume Maker $48

This is another hair applicator, it is a dry shampoo and also helps to make your hair volumized. UGH, I hate that I keep having to say this! Another thing that I will have to pass along, since I’m not a fan of dry shampoo! You can find this on eBay for less.

Masterpeace Wooden Hair Piece $100

I can not find this anywhere online so I’m taking a guess on the price. I do not understand why she would include a wooden hair pin in this box, these have been out of style before I was born, and these are not coming back. I forbid them from making a comeback! You can find some other designs on eBay.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Pre Shampoo Treatment $28

So this is a pre shampoo mask. You have to wet you hair and put this in your hair and let it sit for 20 mins in a shower cap or a towel. Plus this is apparently the man that “saved Audrey Hepburns hair” so of course I’m keeping it because I love Audrey! You can find this on eBay.

This box was very disappointing for me! I payed $100 and received $343 worth of Haircare. I really hate that she focused the whole damn box on haircare! How many f******* hair products could one person possibly need! Hopefully the next box will be redeeming! This girl is on her last strike before I give up on her all together. Sign up here!
