BeautyDNA Subscription Box – Review – May 2015

BeautyDNA is a subscription box company that they only send you FULL SIZE products, which I love because I hate paying for sample sizes, samples should be free. The really cool thing about this site is that they match you to your perfect beauty products as you would on a dating site. You fill out a survey about what you want in terms of hair, face, and body products and list what you need help with and what scents you like and don’t like. They send you one to two full sized items for only $25 a month. How awesome is that!?

I’m such a huge fan of BeautyDNAs packaging!

Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Volumizing Conditioner $23

I’ve never heard of this brand before but they are sold at Sephora and gets four stars. I also really like the smell – Its very floral and fruity. I was paired to this conditioner because I said I have fine hair with lack of volume. This conditioner also contains aloe vera and rose which I said I preferred in my products.

IMG_2763

Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Volumizer Spray $20

I’m not a huge fan of sprays for my hair they make me feel like my hair is coated and makes me feel like its super dirty. I really appreciate though how I got the a product from the same exact brand with the same qualities. It would have been even better if it were just a shampoo and conditioner set, instead of the spray.

IMG_2764

I payed $25 and got a product worth $43, I’m content with the amount of the box! I’m not really excited about either of these products and probably won’t end up using any of these! What did you think of this months BeautyDNA box?

Philip B Maui Wowie Volumizing & Thickening Beach Mist $22

I was matched to this hair product because i listed that I have a lack of volume in my hair and that I like a beachy fragrance also because I like aloe vera and coconut oil, both which are in the hair mist. I have actually been wanting this hair mist for a while now. So, I’m so excited that I’ve actually got a chance to try it out! First off, I love the beachy scent but I did try it out on dry hair and did not use a hair dryer while I was scrunching my hair and did not see any results. I will have to try it again on damp hair and use my hair dryer while I’m scrunching my hair and hopefully then I will see some results!

Supersmile Professional Whitening System and 45 Degree Angled Toothbrush $45

I’m not sure how i was matched to this product. But I’m glad that I was, I have not used it yet because it seems very intimidating but after reading the directions it doesn’t seem all that terribly hard. I thought that I would have to brush my teeth twice but I’m glad that I now know that you have to put a pearl size amount of each paste on the brush and only have to brush once.

I payed $25 and got a product worth $67, I’m thrilled with the amount of the box! I’m glad that I got to experience both of these products! What did you think of this months BeautyDNA box?

I’ve been matched! I was matched to this face cleanser because I said that I have oily skin and prone to breakouts. I was also paired to this because I like foam cleansers and lightweight formulas. It also contains green tea which I like.

IMG_2560

June Jacobs Anti-Aging Blemish Control Foaming Cleanser $48

It had a very strong ginger smell which I can’t really stand. The foam was nice but it didn’t really feel like it was deep cleaning like it said it would. This cleanser also features 1% salicylic acid, broccoli extract, blue daisy extract, turmeric extract, tea tree oil, and camphor.

I payed $25 and got a product worth $48, I’m not thrilled with the amount of the box but I’m glad that I got to experience a new brand. What did you think of this months BeautyDNA box?

I really adore there packaging

IMG_2446

I finally received a product that wasn’t a skincare product and I’m ecstatic! IMG_2447

Dr. Jules Speciale Découverte Skin Care Avocado Oil Treatment $40

I’m so excited to have an item other than a skincare item from this subscription box. This brand is new to me but I already like the packaging so that is a plus. I love hair oils but my hair has no volume and tend to get oily quickly so I try not to use as much. The bottle recommends 4-5 pumps of oil I only used 2 and it worked amazingly. I love the smell of it, it has a minty smell to me and makes my hair super soft and shiny.

IMG_2449

This card tells me everything I need to know about the product I was matched to this month. It tells me that I was matched to this product because I listed my hair as dull and frizzy, and that I like almond oil and argan oil. It also says that I listed that I like a botanical fragrance – which this product has.

 IMG_2448

I payed $25 and got a product worth $40, I’m not thrilled with the amount of the box but I absolutely love the product I received this month. I found out they have a coconut oil one that I would love to get next after I use this one up! I’m very excited about this brand. What did you think of this months BeautyDNA box?

Surprise another skincare item! *cue the sarcasm* I’m so sick of beautyDNA sending me the same product over and over. They better change there habits and switch up there products fast before people start getting bored.

IMG_2387

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum $90

I’m so mad that I have received yet another skin care product for anti aging. I tried it and I’m also unhappy with it. I would never pay $90 for this. It was very greasy and would make me break out if I actually kept it on overnight.

IMG_2388

I payed $25 and got a product worth $90, I’m happy with the amount of the box, I’m just not thrilled that I keep getting anti aging skin care products for what feels like 6 months straight. I have officially taken anti aging off of my list and hopefully I will never receive another anti aging product again!

I love the inside of the box

IMG_2251

Osmosis Enlighten Pigmentation Skin Serum $50

This is like my third month in a row where I got some sort of face cream! I’m so pissed, I wish they would alternate between; hair, face, body. instead of just random products each month. I still haven’t even decided if I will be keep this item because I still haven’t been able to use the other yet. Do they expect me to use the three products all at once? I just don’t understand their logic.

IMG_2252

I payed $25 and received a product for $50, thats like 50% off so I’m happy with the value. What did you get this month?

Bioelixia Radiance Body Cleanser $21

This body wash is made with green tea, trehalose, fruit enzymes and skin conditioning minerals. It was chosen for me because I said that I have dry skin and a fair complexion, and that I like green tea. It was a bitch of a stretch, but I think I will like this product. It smells delicious and I’m excited to bring this on my next vacation!

photo 3

Supersmile Ultimate Lip Treatment $24

I really like this chapstick. Its pretty pricey for a chapstick but so far its been nice. I was matched to this chapstick because I said I have dry lips and that I like almond oil and a vanilla fragrance. It instantly glides right on and melts on your lips. I like the way this feels but I’m not sure if its really working. My lips still feel dry but with a oily sheen sitting on top.

I payed $25 for this box and received two beauty items that equal to $45. Not my favorite beautydna box, but still a good one. What did you get in your beautydna box this month?

I love their packaging, it is so personal and perfect for their company!

photo 2

Moroccan Oil Body Buff $48 I received this because I told them that I have dry skin and like almond and argan oil and a citrus fragrance. The scrub looks and smells like orange marmalade! I know and love this brand already so I was happy to receive this body scrub! I’ve only tried their hair oil so I’m happy to try something else from their brand! I love the packaging so, of course, its basically an instant win for me.

I’ve only payed $25 for this box and received an awesome beauty product worth $48! What did you get this month from BeautyDNA?

SkinCeuticals Resvertrol B E $145 I’m still unsure of this product. I haven’t decided if I like it or not. I haven’t seen any improvement in my skin, I don’t have any wrinkles but I like to prevent wrinkles in the future. I’ve been using this for two weeks every night. But all the other reviews are 5 stars from older women! This is a light gel that you put on before bed, it doesn’t have the prettiest smell in the world, but its not horrible.

photo 5

This box is $25, but since last month BeautyDNA messed up my subscription they gave me this month free! I received a $145 beauty product for free! Thats insane. Even though I’m not sure if I like the product yet, I like the price! What did you get this month from BeautyDNA?

There boxes are adorable!

AND even cuter on the inside!

They send you these little booklets that let you know about the product, what stores you can buy them at, how to use the product and why you have been matched to this product.

Phytokeratine Ultra Repairing Mask $39 I was so excited to try this hair mask out because my hair is thin and has a lot of breakage towards the bottom of my hair. Which is why this product was matched to me. I’ve only been able to use this product once so far but with the one experience I’ve had, I’m very disappointed. After using this hair mask my hair felt extremely waxy and difficult to manage.  I will be giving this a second chance only because I really want this to work for me, If this makes my hair the same way again I will have to pass this along to a friend.image 4

NOTE: For some reason BeautyDNA skipped over my subscription for July, so I had to contact them that I had not received anything. They replied the next day and apologized and told me that they would be sending out a box “immediately”, I received my box a little over a week after that email. I was upset because since they messed up with skipping over me and telling me that they were going to send out a box for me “immediately” I expected overnight shipping or some sort of discount. I contacted them again and they responded with apologizing for the delay and offered me my next month free and 2 day shipping. They have amazing customer service.

***

I payed $25 for this box and received $39 of hair cream that I hope I will grow to love! Are you going to sign up for your own personalized beauty box?
